The Persatuan Kebajikan Haemodialysis St. Anne (PKHSA), with the tagline, I am a ‘Lifeline’ to Kidney Patients, had the honour of hosting Cardinal Sebastian Francis, Bishop of Penang on 1st October 2024. Welcoming Cardinal were Msgr. Henry Rajoo, the spiritual director of PKHSA along with committee members led by Chairman Paul Liew and Vice Chairman Johnny Ng.

Cardinal Sebastian in his message to PKHSA said that we are ONE Universal Church, with ONE Mission and that the mission of care provided by PKHSA is also the mission of the Minor Basilica of St. Anne, mission of the Parishes and the mission of the Diocese of Penang.

Msgr. Henry in his welcome address said that PKHSA was established in 2002 and operates as a non-profit NGO offering renal treatment for free or at subsidized cost. This is made possible by the contributions of the Ministry of Health and benefactors big and small. Currently the center cares for 34 renal patients with 18 dialysis machines, with 6 staff nurses, 3 nursing aides, administrator and 2 support personnel, a visiting consultant nephrologist/physician and a medical doctor.

Msgr. Henry hope parishes and benefactors can support the Patient Adoption Scheme (P.A.S.) where each donor may adopt one patient with a cost of RM1,500.00 per month. So far 4 patients are under the P.A.S. Please support as PKHSA plan to increase the existing patient count from 34 to 54.

Cardinal Sebastian together with Deacon Lazarus Jonathan, Deacon Dave Kameron, Sr. Florence Nemesius, Sr. Lucynia Jeprin, Deacon in training Isaac Simbun then proceeded to visit the patients. Patients expressed their joy and happiness at the visit.

Cardinal Sebastian also signed the commemorative plague.
